7 Ways To Remove Earwax Buildup

7 Ways To Remove Earwax Buildup

Having trouble finding ways to get rid of that earwax without damaging the hardware that keeps you functioning? No worries, I have a few neat, little tricks that I always turn to whenever I’m at home and need some backup.

Here are 7 ways to remove earwax buildup:

1. Baking Soda

What you need:
– ¼ tsp. of baking soda
– 2 tsp. of water
– Syringe / dropper

Simply mix the baking soda thoroughly in the water and then put a few drops into your affected ear. Make sure you’re laying down with the affected ear up so that gravity can do its part!

Remain in that position for about 5-10 minutes, then sit up and use your syringe to flush your ear out with warm water. Some of your earwax should be loosened by the baking soda and then will come out with the warm water flush.

2. Salt Water

What you need:
– 1 tsp. of sea salt
– ½ cup of warm water
– Cotton ball / syringe

Put the salt into the half cup of warm water and stir until the salt is completely dissolved. Soak your cotton ball or fill your syringe with the mixture and put 4-5 drops into your affected ear.

Lay down with your troubled ear facing upwards for about 3-5 minutes, then flip over and lie with the ear facing down over a towel and let the salt water drain.

3. Olive Oil

What you need:
– ½ tsp. olive oil
– Dropper / syringe

Again, drop 2-3 drops of olive oil into your ear and lie down with that ear facing upwards for about 10 minutes. When draining your ear with oil I suggest using a cotton ball or cotton swap to rub away the oil on your outer ear only! Do not try to shove anything into your ear because this may cause further damage.

4. Hydrogen Peroxide

What you need:
– 1 tsp hydrogen peroxide
– 1 tsp. water
– Dropper / syringe

Repeat the exact steps as the sea salt water treatment, however for hydrogen peroxide I suggest letting the mixture sit in your ear for about 10 minutes.

5. Vinegar and Rubbing Alcohol

What you need:
– 1 tsp. vinegar
– ½ tsp. rubbing alcohol
– Syringe

Mix the vinegar and alcohol together and with the syringe, put 1-2 drops inside your ear and let sit for 5 minutes, then flush your ear out with warm water and lie with your affected ear facing downwards.

6. Glycerin

Put 1-3 drops of glycerin in your ear in the ear that is suffering from a wax buildup, sit for about 3 minutes with this ear facing upward, and then carry on with your day for about an hour. Once the hour is up, flush your ear out with warm water.

7. Warm Water

If you don’t like the idea of putting different substances in your ear, you can also use simple warm water! Let warm water soak in your ear for about 10 minutes and then flush your ear out gently. I suggest repeating this about 3 times in an hour since there is no active agent breaking down the earwax.

This list should put an end to your earwax problems! You no longer have to deal with that itchy, clogged feeling of having an earwax buildup.

Remember, try and steer clear of putting anything inside your ear since it is an extremely sensitive part of your body! That means no cotton swaps digging around for earwax, instead trust these homemade, SAFE, remedies!
