Eggs are a good source of nutrition but they also have very high cholesterol. An important component of a balanced healthy diet, they have advantages and disadvantages so it can be hard to decide how many eggs you should be eating every week. Nutrition Value
An egg is actually an incubator for a baby chicken, so it contains all the nutrients required for it to grow. They are an extremely good source antioxidants, iodine, Vitamin A, Vitamin B2 and Vitamin D. Apart from being the cheapest source of animal proteins, eggs also contain high amounts of choline, which is an important nutrient for the brain. A light but filling meal, they are a good choice of food if you want to lose weight.
Cholesterol
Over the years, eggs have been portrayed in a negative light because the yolk is very high in cholesterol. A single egg contains more than half of our daily requirement of cholesterol. Most people are under the misconception that if you eat foods that are high in cholesterol, it will increase your cholesterol levels and lead to heart problems. Actually,cholesterol is an important substance that our liver produces, for it makes up the membrane of every single cell in our body. It is also used in the production of the various hormones that govern our reproductive systems. When we eatcholesterolrich foods, our livers begin to produce less cholesterol, which is unhealthy.
Weekly intake
Earlier studies did not recommend eating more than six eggs a week, however newer research has found that you can eat as many eggs as you would like without risking your cholesterol levels. People who are diabetic should avoid eating egg yolks,as the high cholesterol can put them at risk for a stroke.
