Grandmother’s recipe for Blackberry Vinegar


















Recipe for Blackberry Vinegar

Ingredients

3lbs Blackberries
1 quart Vinegar
Sugar
How to prepare

Clean the blackberries, put them in a large bowl and pour the vinegar over them.
Cover with a cloth and allow to stand for a week.
Strain them and measure the juice.
Put the juice in a pan and boil it for 5 minutes.
Take it off the heat and stir in 1lb sugar to each pint of liquid.
Heat and stir till all the sugar is dissolved. Do not allow to boil again – this is not jam!
Let it cool before bottling. Cork firmly.
Directions for use

Dilute with equal parts of boiling water and vinegar to make a winter drink.
